The Colors of Darkness

Colors, they surround me

Breathe in the sound of life

The sun, he shines—

Granting earth her color

The sun, he shines—

Granting me his fragrance

And the light he brings

Will always fill

This void inside of me

 

Colors dance with darkness

The earth, she turns again

The day, he fades.

Colors leave the air

The night, he comes.

Darkness fills the deep

And the dance they tread

Will never fail

To stir the fear in me

Darkness falls around me

And I despair of light

The moon, she comes—

Shining light that’s borrowed

The stars, they come—

Shining light created

But the light they bring

Will never fill

This void inside of me

Black and white surround me

And I forget the sight

Of green and blue—

Dancing in the sea

Of orange and red—

Rising in the sky

But the sun returns

And starts to fill

This void inside of me

Darkness falls around me

And brings the hope of dawn

For now the sun—

Holding back his light

Reminds my heart—

Take courage in the dark

For night must yield

And dawn will fill
